Naproxen Sodium is a well known pain reliever used in treating pain and inflammation caused by various types of arthritis. It’s use in general pain and pain caused by medical conditions such as injury,gout,medical cramps etc are also notable. It is available under trade names like Naprelan, Anaprox DS and Aleve.I t is not advisable to use certain drugs along with Naproxen Sodium as it would lead to drug interaction. A drug interaction is a process in which one of the drug either enhances or decreases the efficiency of the other drug.Follwoing are some of the drugs that must be avoided while under the Naproxen Sodium medication:
ACE inhibitors such as the blood pressure medication captopril
Antiseizure drugs such as phenytoin sodium
Aspirin
Beta blockers, including blood pressure drugs such as propranolol hydrochloride
Blood thinners such as warfarin sodium
Certain water pills (diuretics) such as furosemide
Lithium
Methotrexate
These are not the only drugs that can trigger a drug interaction which is why it is necessary to detail your current medication habits to your doctor at the time consultation. Your doctor must be aware of both the prescribed and the non prescribed drugs you are taking otherwise effective treatment cannot be ensured.
You must be regular in taking your doses and supposing a situation arises and you had to miss the dose, then you must take it at the next opportunity without fail. However, if the drug is being taken as Anaprox then the missed dose can be taken as long as it is not time for the next dose but if the drug is being taken as Naprelan it must be consumed within the next hours. You must proceed with the next dose if the time elapsed is too long. Naproxen Sodium drug must be consumed as instructed by a doctor and any changes in the dose level must first be discussed with the doctor.
